Summary:
Sanji’s past was revealed when Zeff saved Sanji’s life and sacrificed his leg to fulfill his dreams of finding All Blue. In the present, Luffy destroys Baratie’s left side flipper.
Gin holds Zeff at gunpoint and threatens to shoot. Pearl recovers from Sanji’s attacks and prepares a counterattack, saying that Gin would shoot if Sanji dodged his attacks. With that, Sanji has no choice but to take his attacks as he is hit in the head by his shields. While down, Sanji reflects on his childhood with Zeff.
As a child, Sanji worked as a cook aboard a cruise ship which was then attacked by Zeff’s crew of Cook Pirates. The Cook Pirates loot the ship and defeat Sanji, where Sanji declares his dream of housing the legendary All Blue. However, the ships were suddenly caught in a storm and a particularly strong wave swept Sanji overboard. Zeff decided to risk his life and dived into the sea to save Sanji from drowning. Another strong wave then sank both ships, probably killing all the people on board.
Zeff tried to save Sanji, but his leg was caught in the wreckage of the ship. Zeff had to cut his leg with a chain to free himself. He then rescued Sanji and took him to a deserted, rocky island. On the island they divided their rations among themselves and went to opposite ends of the island to see the incoming ships.
Although Sanji rations his portion of food to last him twenty days, it eventually ran out and he starved for several more days. He confronted Zeff, who had a relatively larger share, and cut open his bag. To his dismay, he discovers that Zeff’s “share” was the treasure and he gave all the food to Sanji. Sanji then discovers that he also cut off his right leg to save his life. Zeff explains his reasoning, stating that he also shared Sanji’s dream of finding All Blue, so he sacrificed his leg so that Sanji could fulfill his dream. Sanji and Zeff were eventually rescued by a ship and together they found the Baratie restaurant.
In the present, Sanji confronts Pearl, ready to fight for Barati. Enraged by the actions of the Krieg Pirates, Luffy uses Gomu Gomu no Ono and destroys the entire fin on the left side.
The To Be Continued card appears on a piece of wood that flies towards the screen from the blast of Luffy’s attack.
