Summary:
During their confrontation, Kaidou praises Luffy for making it this far, but believes that he can never change the world.
Kaidou then remembers his youth. By the time he was 10 years old, he was already imposing in his home of the Kingdom of Vodka. Years later, however, it was revealed that the kingdom was struggling to get by with the Heavenly Tribute and resorted to war to seize the spoils to pay for its position in world government. To guarantee himself a place in Levely (and because they could no longer handle him), the country’s king offered the young Kaidou to the World Government, much to his personal fury. Still, he managed to escape from Marine custody and earn a bounty and a reputation for being captured only to eat something on the prison ships.
Two years later, on Hachinos, Kaidou backed up his reputation with his formidable strength, leading to Edward Newgate bringing him to the Rocks, news that shook the world. Eventually the Rocks Pirates fell and Kaido struck out on his own. While forming the Beasts Pirates, he was approached by Kurozumi Higurashi, who offered him a proposition that led to his alliance with Kurozumi Orochi in Wano. Kaidou accepts her terms and much later declares that he will teach the “peaceful” nobles the hellish nature of war and create a world where strength determines a man’s worth. He later confides in King that he overheard Yamato mention “Joy Boy” and if he is who King is waiting for, then he knows exactly who he is.
Back in the present, Joseph decides to flee while Yamato cheers Momonosuke to create large Flame Clouds, which he desperately tries to do. Inside the castle, Raizo and Jinbe’s water reaches the rest of the hinterland, engulfing everyone and putting out all the fire before flowing out of the island. Everyone tries to hold on, and down in the treasury, Denjiro praises Hiyori for putting up with her suffering so long for this moment, which brings her to tears.
However, Kaidou’s Flame Clouds have completely disappeared, meaning the island will soon fall. Kaidou asks Luffy what kind of world he wants to create, just as Momonosuke finally produces his own Flame Clouds to support the island. As for Luffy, he tells Kaidou that he wants to create a world where his friends can eat as much as they want when his fist rips through Kaidou’s fire dragon and punches him in the face, sending him straight and deep into the ground. Momonosuke safely drops Onigashi near the Flower Capital and passes out from exhaustion, as does Luffy.
In the past, Kaidou had told King that Joy Boy was the man who would defeat him without a doubt, although King confidently believed that he would never appear.
