Summary:

At the bar, Roshio and Bellamy gamble and Roshio wins. However, Bellamy refuses to accept defeat, insisting that Roshio cheated by having Sarquiss testify falsely. Roshio tries to fight Bellamy but is easily defeated. The Straw Hats were still out at sea trying to find Jaya when Chopper noted seagulls flying overhead; then suddenly the Ravens fall and Chopper claims they were shot. Usopp notes that only an extraordinary marksman could have shot them, and it’s more likely that the shots were accidental. Van Augur, sitting on a roof somewhere in Jaya, is revealed to have shot the birds and comments on their fate.

Meanwhile in Mock Town, Jesus Burgess is seen challenging a man to a fight and he defeats his opponent. One of the onlookers remarked to him that the man he defeated was one of Roshi’s men, judging by the mark on his headband. Meanwhile, at the bar, two men discuss how Roshio was defeated, under the false pretense of cheating, and one of them recognizes the man who defeated Roshio as Bellamy.

The Straw Hats finally arrive in Mock Town. Luffy and Zoro left the ship with Nami accompanying them after they considered causing trouble that would drive them out of town. Such a turn of events would disrupt their information gathering for Sky Island. To prevent this, she made them promise not to mess with anyone. During their journey, Doc Q fell in their path and asked for help getting up. Luffy and Zoro got him on his horse, Stronger. He thanked them for being born with a weak body, brought a basket of apples and asked them to choose one. Zoro indicated that it was suspicious. However, Luffy went ahead and helped himself to one apple. Shortly after Luffy took a bite of the apple, an explosion erupted nearby as some people ate the apples with explosives. Doc Q then stated that Luffy is a lucky man for picking an apple that is crazy. On the ship, Chopper, Usopp, and Sanji notice that Robin has also left without realizing it.

Luffy, Zoro, and Nami, still trying to find out information, walked past Jesus Burgess, who is growling and standing on the roof of a building. People comment that he has many victims with no reward on his head and it is best to stay away from the wrestling champion. Hearing this, Luffy and Zoro became competitive, but Nami squeezed the competitive fuel out of them to avoid a fight. They make their way to the Tropical Hotel with the intention of gathering information. However, Spector, the hotel manager, turns them away because the Bellamy Party has rented the entire place and no other customers are allowed there. This reveals Spector’s fear of Bellamy.

Sarquiss returns to the hotel and upon seeing Luffy, Zoro, and Nami remarks that they are shabby children. Luffy asks if he should kick Sarquiss’ ass, but Nami and Spector shout “no”. Sarquiss throws them some money saying they should use it to buy some clothes. Luffy is excited and ready to take the money when Nami drags him away. They get to a restaurant and Nami complains about the town when the bartender tells her that many rich pirates come to Mock Town to unload their wealth, fights and murders often occur. While talking to Nami, Luffy and Blackbeard comment on the cherry pie and drink. They have opposing views on food and are close to fighting over it. Blackbeard asks if Luffy is a pirate and Luffy says yes. He then asks for Luffy’s reward and when he learns that it is Beli 30,000,000, he doesn’t believe it. He left the bar somewhat disappointed.

Bellamy and his crew arrive at the store and Bellamy asks if this is Straw Hat Luffy with a reward of 30,000,000 Beli. He buys Luffy a drink, which Luffy accepts, saying that Bellamy is a good guy. While Luffy is drinking, Bellamy smashes Luffy’s head into the bar table. Zoro and Luffy immediately prepare to fight. Nami tells them to stop and asks the bartender if he has any information on Sky Island. The people in the bar are amazed and burst out laughing. In her defense, Nami says that the log position is pointing up, but the people continue to laugh and say that the log position is broken. Bellamy says that they shouldn’t believe the story of the rooster and the bull about the island in the sky, and that only ignorant sailors ride downstream to fall back down. He says that all dreams can be explained and the age of pirates dreaming is over. He also mocks people who die chasing their dreams, saying it makes him sick to his stomach. Luffy, who had been clenching his fist, loosens it when he hears Bellamy’s statement and even goes so far as to allow Bellamy to punch him. Nami tells Luffy and Zoro to forget the promise and fight Bellamy and his crew. Luffy then tells Zoro that they will not fight them.
