Summary:

The Caribou Pirates attack the Straw Hats. While Caribou manages to get to the Thousand Sunny, the rest of his crew are dragged away by Momoo, who freaks out when he recognizes the Straw Hats from his time in Arlong Park. Caribou is left alone and is captured by the Straw Hats as a result. The Straw Hats encounter the Kraken, which destroys the ship of the Caribou Pirates, who have returned to rescue their captain, and then attack the Thousand Sunny. The Straw Hats manage to avoid his attacks and Luffy along with Zoro and Sanji prepare to fight.

The episode begins with the Caribou pirates attacking the Straw Hats. As the two ships’ bubbles approach, Caribou orders her crew to rush the Thousand Sunny. Caribou manages to get on the Thousand Sunny, but the rest of his crew is pulled away by Momoo, who escapes when he recognizes Nami, Sanji, and Luffy. When Caribou realizes he is alone against the Straw Hats, he begs them not to throw him into the sea and makes excuses to let him live. Later, Nami explains to the rest of the crew about the undersea currents to be interrupted as the Thousand Sunny is swept away by the down current. While being carried away by the current Straw Hats, they encounter the Kraken, a mythical giant sea monster that is now blocking their path.

Luffy gets excited and decides to tame it. Meanwhile, the rest of the Caribou pirates return to rescue their captain, but their ship is promptly destroyed by the Kraken. Luffy along with Zoro and Sanji suit up to fight the Kraken. The Kraken attempts to attack the Thousand Sunny, but the Straw Hats manage to dodge the attacks thanks to Franky (using his new rocket launchers), Chopper using his sentinel point, and Robin demonstrating her new power by creating a gigantic hand that protects the ship from a boulder. The episode ends showing Luffy ready to activate his Gear Third technique.
This episode covers the most pages since episode 404.
When Momoo recognizes Luffy in the anime, he remembers when Luffy hit him with the Gomu Gomu no Pistol when they first met. However, in the manga, Momoo remembers when Luffy used Gomu Gomu no Kazaguruma to defeat him and some Fish-Man pirates in Arlong Park.
Caribou never said anything about his disadvantage against the Straw Hats in the anime.
In the manga, Luffy repeatedly pokes Caribou with a stick, which did not appear in the episode.
The explanation about the currents and Grand Line Island is shorter in the anime.
Usopp and Chopper were interested in Nami’s explanation in the manga before joining Luffy and Zoro’s blissful ignorance.
Franky didn’t explain that they can’t use Coup De Burst on Nami.
Photos of Kokoro can be seen with pictures of Nami and Robin in Sanji’s possession, and the photos in question and their effect on Sanji are explored in more detail. Kokoro’s Photograph

Robin’s sketch of the Kraken is shown in the anime. It wasn’t in the manga, but it was shown in SBS volume 63, making it semi-canon, if not canon. (Oda stated that SBS is supplementary information, although still accurate)
Chopper does not use Rumble Ball to activate Guard Point. This may be a fix for a manga bug since no Rumble Ball is required to reach a Point anymore.
When Robin uses the Gigantesco Mano to save the Thousand Sunny from crashing into an underwater mountain, she says that “it will work in water for a while” before she uses it in the manga, but after she uses it in the anime.
