Summary:
As Usopp confronts Trebol, Thunder Soldier reminisces about his time as Kyros. After a long time as a gladiator, Kyros manages to become the captain of King Riku’s guard and later marries his eldest daughter Scarlett and together they have Rebecca. As they have a happy life together as a family, Doflamingo destroys it when he tries to take over Dressrosa that night 10 years ago.
Usopp’s attack on Trebol turns out to do nothing, as Trebol is easily put back together and plays with Usopp.
Meanwhile, Thunder Soldier returns to his life before he was turned into a toy. At the age of 15, Kyros was arrested for the murder of two people. King Riku showed him mercy and after fighting 100 battles in the coliseum allowed him to be free, to which Kyros agrees. Within four months, he managed to get his freedom. However, Kyros continues to fight in the arena after realizing that there is no other place for him as the people still vilify him as a murderer. After 1000 victories, Riku asked why Kyros wanted to fight so much. Kyros sadly replies that all people will remember him as a murderer. He also wishes people would just forget about him and his past. Ironically, this wish would come true years later. It is later revealed that he started having nightmares because of the blood he spilled as an assassin as King Riku watched him silently.
Kyros stays in the arena for 9 years, winning battle after battle without injury and gaining the admiration of the people over time. Under the guise of Ricky, King Riku competes with Kyros and his 3000 wins and losses after inflicting a single injury on his head when Kyros is shocked to recognize him. Realizing that it was the king who had been fighting him all along, Kyros wondered why he did it. The king told Kyros that even though Kyros had taught him how to fight with a sword, he did not want him to spend his entire life fighting in the coliseum and convinced him to join the army as a captain of the guard. However, Scarlett (Princess of Dressrosa) distrusts him as she is well aware of his past as an assassin and has told him that he will never come near or touch her or her sister even though she is under his protection. That changes when she is kidnapped by pirates and rescued by Kyros. As a result, Scarlett falls in love with him and starts spending more time together (much to Kyros’ chagrin). He eventually reciprocates her feelings and they end up getting married.
Due to Kyros’ past as an assassin, Scarlett convinces her father to fake her death so that she can live happily with Kyros. She eventually bears him a child whom she names Rebecca. The family spends their days in a flower field, where Riku regularly visits them. Kyros himself could not bear to touch his daughter, believing her to be too pure for an assassin to touch, and routinely wears gloves when playing with her. Despite this peculiarity, they went on to live a life filled with more happiness than Cyrus had hoped for. However, one day Kyros and his family notice the burning palace and ask what is going on.
