Summary:
Nami and Usopp encounter a giant named Brogy, while Luffy and Vivi encounter Brogy’s rival Dorry.
When Nami and Usopp see someone gigantic approaching the Going Merry through the breaking trees across the forest, they start to cry. A giant comes out and asks Nami and Usopp for alcohol. Nami replies that the only alcohol they have is for cooking and sanitizing. The giant screams in pain because he was just bitten from behind by a T. rex. He chops off the T. rex’s head and introduces himself as Brogy, claiming to be Elbaf’s strongest warrior. He also calls Nami and Usopp as guests, but they both play dead, terrified.
Elsewhere, Luffy and Vivi are exploring. Luffy comments on the view of the Brachiosaurus and says he wants to have lunch there. Luffy then starts playing on Brachiosaurus necks and one of them eats him. The giant slashes the dinosaur’s neck and grabs Luffy’s hand, telling him he’s been watching him. The giant introduces himself as Dorry, Elbaf’s strongest warrior. Luffy introduces himself to Vivi and Karoo before Dorry invites them to his home.
Brogy takes Usopp and Nami to his place where he roasts dinosaur meat to treat them as his guests. However, fearing that they will be eaten themselves, they try to escape through the jungle. Either way, after being chased by bigger and bigger predators, they end up back at Brogy’s feet.
Back at Dorry, he tells Luffy, Karoo, and Vivi that he is involved in a duel that lasts a hundred years. Whenever the island’s central volcano erupts, the two face off in battle.
Meanwhile, in the jungle, Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine join forces with Mr. 3 and Miss Goldenweek, who plan to collect huge bounties from the giants.
This is the first time in the anime that Elbaf is mentioned.
These are the differences between anime and manga:
In the anime, the part where Luffy interacts with the Brachiosaurus is extended. He also interacts with his herd before being swallowed. In the manga, it is simply shown that he was swallowed by said dinosaur after he notices it on his head.
In the anime, Luffy introduces Vivi and Karoo to Dorry, and then the giant invites them to his home. In the manga, Dorry invites them over without an introduction.
When they arrive at Brogy’s in the anime, Nami and Usopp continue to play dead and try to escape. They eventually run into predators and Brogy saves them from being eaten. In the manga, they are immediately shown in Brogy’s place, nervously sitting with him.
In the anime, the rivalry between Sanji and Zoro is expanded. They are shown comparing the size of their game and both return to the forest to hunt some more. In the manga, they make this comparison right before they board their ship and leave Little Garden.
