Summary:

Sabo tells Zoro, Robin, Franky, Kin’emon, and Kanjuro about how he regained his memories two years ago after hearing about Ace’s death. Two years later, he visited Ace’s grave and gained permission to participate in the Mera Mera no Mi match, reuniting with Luffy. Sabo then gives the Vivre Card of Luffy to the Straw Hats.

Meanwhile, Fujitora decides with a roll of the dice that he won’t arrest the Straw Hats tonight, and at Riku Doldo III’s palace, he tells Rebecca that when he becomes king, she’ll be a princess.

Two years ago, 20-year-old Sabo was sitting on the mast of a ship when he suddenly saw the faint outlines of Monkey D. Luffy and Portgas D. Ace as children standing with their backs to him, though they couldn’t tell who they were due to their amnesia. Luffy and Ace said Sabo’s name and turned to him, but Sabo was snapped out of his sight by Koala, who was excited to be back in Baltigo for the first time in a month. Inside the Revolutionary Army HQ, the revolutionaries said that Sabo and Koala came at the right time as everyone was reading about the outcome of the Summit War of Marineford. After wondering if Emporio Ivankov was alright, the revolutionary revealed that Whitebeard and Portgas D. Ace had been killed, much to Saba’s shock. While Dragon confirmed to his subordinates that Luffy was indeed his son, Sabo began to sweat as he read the news of Ace’s death. He remembered being with Ace as a child when Ace declared that he was going to be the pirate king no matter what anyone thought of him and Sabo started to cry and bend over in shock. He then remembered the time he, Ace, and Luffy exchanged sake cups and became brothers, and his convulsions began to attract the attention of the other revolutionaries. Sabo finally let out a big scream as his memories came back and he realized who Ace really was and collapsed as the other revolutionaries ran towards him.

After Sabo had another vision of Ace as a child, Sabo woke up with Koala and Hack by his side, and Koala began to sob as she revealed how scared she was that Sabo had been sleeping for three days in a row. Sabo revealed that he had indeed regained his memories, and Koala asked if he would leave the Revolutionary Army. Sabo denied it, but asked to speak with Dragon. In the present, Franky, Kin’emon, and Kanjuro are in tears at the story, and the samurai indulges in meat and alcohol, which Zoro scolds them for. Knowing that they will need a lot of food to sustain themselves, Kin’emon and Kanjuro decide to go shopping later. Franky then asks to hear the rest of the story, which Sabo obliges.

Before heading to Dressrosa, Sabo visited Ace and Whitebeard’s graves, pouring three cups of sake on Ace’s grave and talking about Luffy. As he was leaving, Sabo contacted Koala through Den Den Mushi and asked for permission to obtain a certain Devil Fruit. Later, inside the Corrida Colosseum on Dressrose, Luffy needed to get out to save Law, and Bartolomeo promised to get the Mera Mera no Mi for him. However, Sabo stepped forward and said that he couldn’t allow either of them to get the fruit. Bartolomeo angrily confronted him, but Sabo pushed him away, saying that he had known Luffy forever. Luffy was also confronted by Sabo’s statement, not knowing who was in front of him. Sabo addressed him as Luffy and stated that he could tell his brother’s face even in disguise, causing Luffy to realize who he was. Luffy was taken aback by the realization and crashed into the wall behind him, and Sabo shared a memory with them of them drinking cups of sake, causing Luffy to wrap himself around his brother’s head. Luffy began to roar as he asked Sabo where he had been all this time and Sabo said that he was glad that Luffy was alive. Luffy yelled that he let Ace die, but Sabo was just happy that Luffy was still there and that he wasn’t alone, thanking Luffy for surviving. Luffy collapsed to the ground and Sabo asked if he could eat the Mera Mera no Mi, to which Luffy agreed.

In the present, the sleeping Luffy smiles, causing his members to be happy. Sabo says he’s leaving now and gives the Straw Hats the Vivre Card of Luffy, though he keeps a piece for himself. Sabo knows that Luffy’s colleagues should keep an eye on him, and they fondly remember Ace saying the same thing on Arabasta two years ago. As he walks out, Sabo calls Den Den Mushi and tells Hack on the other end that he’s headed back before suddenly hanging up, causing Hack to punch the operator. Meanwhile, Fujitora rolls a 1, which the marines agreed was the only number in favor of Luffy and Law, meaning they won’t be going after them tonight. Maynard tries to argue, but Fujitora says his arguments are shameful. In the royal palace of Dressrosa, the citizens and gladiators of the Colosseum are sleeping in a room and Rebecca runs outside where Riku Doldo III is. He asks his grandfather where Luffy and his group are, and Doldo replies that they are with Kyros. Doldo then tells Rebecca that if she becomes king again, she will become a princess, which shocks her. Meanwhile, Sabo flies through the air on a flock of birds, excited to return to Baltigo and talk to Dragon about Luffy and happy to meet Luffy.
