Summary:
The Straw Hat Pirates manage to gain the trust of the people who attacked them and are taken to the village, except for Zoro and Karoo, who are guarding the ship. Luffy and Sanji must take Nami to the island’s only doctor who lives on top of a mountain. Vivi and Usopp discover from Dalton the past of the island and the pirate Wapolo.
After Vivi is shot by a villager on Drum Island, Luffy becomes enraged and prepares to attack the residents. Vivi quickly hugs Luffy and tells him that he isn’t qualified to be captain because not everything needs to be fought. Karoo watches over Nami. Luffy calms down and apologizes to the people on the island. Dalton empathizes with the crew and orders them to follow him. Vivi smiles at Luffy as people understand and Luffy compliments her.
Usopp, Vivi, Sanji (carrying Nami) and Luffy go after Dalton and the islanders when they encounter a walking bear and Usopp tells everyone to play dead. Everyone there walks past the walking bear after bowing. In Merry Zoro comments on how his legs are now fully healed. He is later seen shirtless talking about training while Karoo is stunned.
Dalton introduces Bighorn to the visitors and tells everyone that anyone who isn’t a guard can come back to his house. Negikuma Maria asks how it went after hearing they were pirates. Dalton invites the visitors to his house and tells them to use the bed, after which Nami is seen lying on it while Vivi covers her. Dalton introduces himself as the island’s security captain. He feels like he’s seen Vivi before, but Vivi (nervously) responds by telling him that it’s probably just his imagination. She changes the subject by asking him to tell them more about the witch since Nami’s temperature is around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Dalton talks to the visitors about the Drum Rockies and how at the top of the highest mountain is Drum Castle, where there is no longer a king, but where Kureha lives. Luffy decides to wake Nami up as he is about to climb a mountain while carrying her. After listening to him, Nami agrees to the idea.
After Sanji decides he’s going too and everything is set, Dalton advises the two to climb the mountain on the “other” side since there are lapahnos in the main course. After Luffy and Sanji leave, Usopp and Vivi watch them leave and stay outside. Dalton, after seeing their concerns, decides to join them. He then talks about the country and how they were known as an advanced medical nation because of the skilled doctors who lived there. It turns out that the country was invaded by pirates 5 months ago. The captain of the crew called himself “Chernomous”. Some people thought that the destroyed land was better for her because she contributed to the destruction of the Drum Kingdom and its king, Wapolo. Luffy and Sanji are seen running up the mountainside while talking, but the lapahn keeps attacking them as they keep dodging his attacks. This angers Sanji and kicks him, causing him to fly away.
Sanji and Luffy encounter a large herd of lapahs. Dalton still talks about the kingdom’s past situation. Bliking is seen and Chess is on top while he targets Drum Island and informs the captain of the Bliking Pirates.
