Luffy eventually stumbles upon an infirmary where Reiju hides him from the pursuing Big Mom pirates. Reiju informs Luffy that Sanji has been alerted to Pudding’s deception, and Luffy decides to return to the place where he promised to wait for Sanji. After jumping from the castle and landing in Sweet City, Luffy is confronted by chess soldiers as he travels to his intended destination.

While wandering the halls of the castle, Sanji decides not to return to the Straw Hats.

After Pedro’s explosion in the castle courtyard, Count Niwatori gets up, only slightly injured. After seeing the remains of the explosion, with no sign of Pedro found, Niwatori orders his subordinates to get the injured medical attention and put out the fires in the courtyard. Pedro is alive and with Chopper and Carrot in the mirror world. He recalls how the two found him through a mirror during his battle, and he immediately devised a plan to end the fight by detonating dynamite. Once he did, he quickly ran into the mirror just before the blast hit him. Chopper, Carrot, Pedro, and the captured Brûlée then ride Diesel’s car in search of their remaining teammates, knowing that Luffy and Nami have been captured. Karotka shows the mirrors a drawing of her teammates, but to Pedro’s shock, they are all drawn as bishonen. However, the mirrors recognize the drawings and reveal that they saw Nami with Jinbe, and Chopper is surprised to hear Jinbe’s name. On the first floor of the castle, Nami and Jinbe are running away from a horde of Big Mom pirates. The pair quickly find themselves surrounded and Nami shocks some of the horde with lightning, only to hit Chopper unknowingly after he emerges from a nearby mirror. Nami and Jinbe then see Carrot through the mirror and much to their surprise, Carrot tells them to go inside.

Meanwhile, Luffy is still fighting past the Big Mom Pirates as he advances to the third floor where Sanji is, but is then confronted by Cabaletta. Luffy initially mistakes Cabaletta for his five-year-old brother Cadenza, but Cabaletta corrects him as he prepares to avenge Cadenza’s defeat. Saying that unlike Cadenza, she doesn’t just boast physical strength, Cabaletta moves in the blink of an eye and attempts to hit Luffy with her Busoshoku Haki charged arms before Luffy can react. The two quickly throw punches at each other but end up in a stalemate. Luffy then shows weakness as his stomach growls from his extreme hunger, allowing Cabaletta to headbutt him. With Luffy unable to escape, Cabaletta tells him that Sanji betrayed him and asks if Luffy really wants to save him. Cabaletta’s statement about Sanji makes Luffy very angry, allowing him to snap out of his head and grab Cabaletta’s hair, preventing him from moving. Luffy then hits Cabaletta into the wall with the Hawk Rifle, defeating him. He immediately resumes his search for Sanji, and the rest of the Big Mom Pirates are reluctant to pursue him further, but do so anyway.

Luffy continues to look around the third floor when he is suddenly pulled into the infirmary by Reiju, who locks the door to prevent the pursuers from entering. Luffy tells Reiju that he needs to warn Sanji about Pudding’s deception, but Reiju reveals that Sanji only found out about it moments ago. He also says that she told him to flee the island, but is worried that Zeff and Baratie will be held hostage. Luffy declares that he will go defend the Baratians if they are in trouble, and with a hunger strike for Sanji in mind and knowing that he did everything to help his cook, Luffy leaves the castle by jumping out of the window. Lands on top of someone’s house and destroys it. He struggles to move due to his hunger as he heads back to where he promised to wait for Sanji, but Luffy is confronted by the Chess Soldiers along the way. However, upon returning to the castle, Sanji decides not to leave and accepts his fate, stating that he cannot return after what he did to his crew members.
