Sanji enters the room where Nami is resting and brings food for Nami with him. When Kureha enters, Sanji calls her madam and she kicks him. Meanwhile, Luffy chases Chopper around Kureha, but when he hears the nakama expression, he starts telling a story about the only friend Chopper had, Hiriluka.

Years ago, Hiriluk escaped from Wapol’s soldiers during the Hunt for the Doctor. He coughs and spits blood into his hand. Inside the house, a man is sick and his wife tries to convince him to beg Wapol for Isshi-20. Hiriluk then appears through a burst of smoke and tries to treat the citizen, but he refuses. Hiriluk insists and injects him with a drug obtained from frog essence, the man turns green and starts croaking and bouncing. The soldiers arrive at the house and Hiriluk escapes through a broken window. On their way, they run into Kureha and they talk until the soldiers spot them. Quack then runs into Chopper, who is badly wounded by gunshots. He tries to treat Chopper’s injuries, but the moment he pulls out his tranquilizer gun, Chopper hits him. Chopper tries to leave, but Hiriluk catches his attention after stripping and tries to prove to him that he won’t hurt him.

Chopper wakes up in Hiriluk’s place and becomes hungry. Then she takes the bread and starts crying at the second bite. After three days, Chopper speaks for the first time. Hiriluk asks why he didn’t talk before and Chopper explains that he didn’t want to talk because it’s not normal for a reindeer to talk so he might get scared. Charlatan and Chopper visit the village regularly, they always get kicked out. Reindeer and the doctor fight, and after they’re done, Chopper says that it was the first time he’s ever fought someone. Hiriluk then presents Chopper with a hat and begins to tell a story about a sick man, a miracle, and cherry blossoms.

One day, Hiriluk kicks Chopper out of his place and shoots him after he is outside. The doctor asks Kureha how many days he has left to live, and she tells him that he only has ten days left. Hiriluk leaves Kure’s place, claiming to show Chopper that anything is possible.
Chopper is holding a bunch of lab glass, but after Luffy asks him to join the crew and he backs down, he’s only holding a vial of Florence.
As Hiriluk explains to Chopper what pirates are, a picture of a pirate that looks like Gol D. Roger appears on the back.
