Read One Piece Manga Chapter 605

Summary:

The chapter opens with the rest of the crew shocked by Luffy’s declaration that he will tame the kraken. Luffy wanted to tame it so it could pull their ship. Usopp and Chopper try to dissuade Luffy by pointing out his immense size and mythical, legendary status. Brook notes that he, a fleshless skeleton, feels like the kraken’s counterpart. Franky says the creature looks tasty while Robin sketches it, much to Chopper’s shock at everyone’s calm demeanor as he says how rarely seen. Zoro says he wouldn’t mind catching it and asks Luffy if he has a plan. Luffy says the problem is they’re in the ocean. Usopp counters that the main problem was the size of the kraken, while Nami gives the order to turn the helm south. Luffy instead tells her to head straight for the kraken. Nami points to one of the crushed ships and asks Luffy if he wants that to happen to them. Sanji backs Nami up, almost making his nose bleed, but he controls himself at the last moment. Shocked by this, Usopp compliments the cook. Chopper explains that this is a result of his rehabilitation and the fact that Nami is wearing a coat. Caribou is shocked by everyone’s behavior and says that running away would be the right and expected thing to do in this situation.
Suddenly, Coribou and the Caribou Pirates ship reappear. Caribou is pleased to see his brother and the crew. Coribou screams to save his brother. Before Coribou can save his brother, one of the kraken’s gigantic tentacles descends on Coribou’s ship and envelops it, bursting the bubble and crushing it. Coribou and the rest of the Caribou pirates are all in shock as they sail in the deep ocean. All the straw pirates and the Caribou are stunned at the sight. Caribou seems devastated by the loss of his crew, saying “Ohhhh, my bastards”. When Zoro comments that they all look like jellyfish floating in the water, Caribou tells him to shut up and calls him Roronoa. Kraken then turns his attention to the straw pirates. Zoro begins to draw his sword and Luffy prepares to shift into Gear 3. Usopp stops them both, saying that their attacks will break the bubble. Franky says they’ll avoid that with the Chicken Voyage. Nami tells Franky to use Coup de Burst on them and propel them into the current so they can escape. Franky says they can’t because the amount of air needed to use Coup de Burst or Gaon Cannon is limited. Nami then asks what they will do. Luffy says they won’t do anything because he’s about to fight the kraken. Chopper begs him not to, that the bubble will burst. Caribou joins in and says that if Luffy wants to fight the kraken, he has a way for him to do it.
Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are then covered in paint resin, with a bubble forming around their bodies starting at the knees, while their lower legs are simply coated without the bubble. The coatings work like diving suits. Caribou calls it “Barefoot Coating”. Caribou goes on to tell them that the rope he gave them is their lifeline, letting them fight freely without being restrained by the ship, so they don’t have to worry about flying away. Usopp is angry at the Caribou, saying they never asked him for help, saying he ruined their escape plan by allowing the Monster Trio to actually fight. Caribou retaliates, saying he’s been telling them to run since they encountered the kraken. He then asks Usopp which idea he likes better: having them fight on the ship or sending them off the ship to fight. Usopp is convinced and tells Luffy to go fight far away from them. Nami agrees and tells them that if they are going to fight, to do it far away from the ship. Luffy says the lifeline will get in the way. Nami protests and says they need a line so they don’t separate, but it’s too late as Luffy, Zoro and Sanji have already left the ship. Pleased by the fact that Nami is worried about him, Sanji suffers a very slight nosebleed.
Luffy tells Zoro and Sanji to outrun him to buy him some time, saying that he will take out the kraken with a single shot. Zoro replies that he will take out the kraken before Luffy is ready. Luffy says that cutting the kraken would be wrong because he wants to keep it as a pet. The Kraken will try to attack the ship again. Franky counters this by firing rockets at the tentacle from his shoulders. Usopp, Luffy, and Chopper all marvel at the new upgrade. Another tentacle attacks the ship from behind, this actually makes contact. However, Chopper is able to counter by quickly eating the rumble ball and using his new, much larger Sentinel Point. Everyone is surprised by Chopper’s development. Even though the ship is not damaged, the force of the attack was enough to send it towards the mountain. This time it’s Robin’s turn to protect the ship. She said that she should be able to use her powers for a while even when they are underwater. Her new technique, Mil Fleurs: Gigantesco Mano, created two giant hands from the ship that pushed it away from the mountain. Luffy then activates his Device 3, infusing it with Busoshoku Haki, causing his fist to turn black and harden. However, he couldn’t attack because the ocean was draining him of his strength.
Sanji sees that Luffy needs more time and moves to grab the kraken’s tentacle so quickly that he actually breaks out of his bubble using a technique called the Blue Walk. Usopp and Brook are shocked to see Sanji move so fast, Usopp compares the cook’s speed to that of a fish man. Sanji uses the memory of running away from the okamas for two years as motivation for his speed, even though he thinks the kraken was cute compared to the okamas. He then uses another new technique, Diable Jambe: Bien Cuit: Grill Shot. The attack hits the kraken’s tentacle and burns it. The scene then switches to Zoro also attacking the kraken with a new technique, Santoryu Ogi: Rokudo no Tsuji. This attack severed one of the kraken’s tentacles after slicing it lengthwise into six pieces. Luffy then tells the two to stop attacking while they remove the creature’s legs. Luffy then hits the kraken with his new technique, the Gomu Gomu no Elephant Gun. This is enough to send the kraken flying backwards. As everyone marvels at his strength, they all notice a shark escaping from the kraken’s mouth. The shark is wearing a Criminal t-shirt. Zoro notices his size while Sanji questions if he really has clothes on. Right after everyone sees the shark, the Monster Trio is pulled down by the Downward Plume along with the knocked out kraken. The Straw Hats aboard the Thousand Sunny are also pulled into the current as Nami tells them to keep their yards down and not let go at all or the ship will take serious damage. After the ship is midstream, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji are revealed not too far ahead, still in their bubbles, Luffy clearly enjoying the ride.
Usopp fell unconscious as the ship was in the downdraft. He is then seen waking up after lying face first on the deck of the ship. He comments that they survived. He then asks why everyone looked so gloomy and also comments on how cold it was. Robin tells him that Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji got separated from the rest of the group and can’t find them, hopefully they weren’t torn apart by some monster. Usopp adds that even if they’re alive, the air in their bubbles doesn’t last very long. Nami regrets that they listened to her and didn’t take the lifeline. Franky says it won’t do them any good to just sit there and whine about looking for them because it has a built in light function. Chopper asks if it was Franky’s eyes, but the light comes from Franky’s nipples instead. . The chapter ends with the story of the crew being in the Deep Sea where no light can penetrate and normal sea creatures must not exist. It is called the “Underworld Sea”.
