Summary:

The Whitebeard Pirates and the Roger Pirates clash for three days and three nights. On the fourth day their fighting ceased, and the booty was divided equally between the two garrisons. Roger discusses with Whitebeard his dreams of fully traveling the world, and Roger asks him to borrow Oden for a year and give him all his treasure. They later reach Skypiea, in which Oden is writing Roger’s message next to the Shandor Poneglyph.
26 years ago, Roger felt Oden closing in on him, and Oden rushed to the Roger Pirates despite his colleagues warning him not to. Oden overpowered several of Roger’s subordinates, and Silvers Rayleigh and Scopper Gaban prepared to marry him together. However, Roger stopped them as he rushed towards Oden, saying that they would both get hurt, though they believed he wanted to fight Oden alone. With one slash of his sword, Roger lightly wounded Oden and sent him into a distant tree. Oden quickly recovered and tried to get back to Roger, but then Whitebeard arrived and engaged in a monstrous confrontation with the pirate, releasing enough power to blow up everything on the island, as well as Moby Dick. When the two mighty pirates clashed, their crews set out against each other to fight and plunder each other, and the battle lasted for three days and three nights.
After that, however, the fighting died down and turned into an exchange of gifts. Marshall D. Teach examined Shanks and Buggy, and Buggy told Shanks that he had heard that Teach had never slept in his life, including the last few nights during the truce. Meanwhile, Roger spoke with Whitebeard and Oden and presented them with a transcript of the Poneglyph, which Oden confirmed he could read. Roger revealed that 13 years ago his crew reached Lodestar Island, the last island in the New World accessible to Log Pose. However, the crew knew that there was one last island, and Roger figured out that he needed information about the Poneglyphs to get there. He stated that his greatest ambition was to reach this last island and become the greatest pirate in the world, and his statement stunned Oden. Roger then humbly asked Whitebeard to let him borrow Oden for one year to decipher the Road Poneglyphs, but Whitebeard angrily refused. However, Oden decided he wanted to go with Roger, so he asked Whitebeard to oblige, which he reluctantly did. Oden bid farewell to Izou, Inuarashi and Nekomamushi, and the Roger Pirates left behind their treasure and food as compensation for taking Oden, although Whitebeard told his subordinates to return the food so Oden would not starve.
As the Roger Pirates set sail, Roger and Rayleigh met Momonosuke and Hiyori. The crew then discovered the black passengers and Oden was shocked to see Inuarashi and Nekomamushi following him. The Roger Pirates didn’t want to accept Oden as a friend, but Oden quickly got along with them. Crocus told Roger that he had a year left to live, and Roger decided to make the most of it. The crew sailed up the Knock Up Stream to Skypiea and climbed the Giant Jack to find the Shandorian Golden Belfry Bell. Soon after, Roger found the Poneglyph there as he heard voices inside and told Oden to write a message on it that he had arrived.
