Summary:
Gan Fall reflects on the days in Skypiea before the arrival of Enel. Shandia is still trying to wage war with the Skypieans to return to their homeland. Gan Fall wonders if this makes them villains, since the prosperity the Skypieans have gained over the past 400 years was due to their ancestors’ victory over the Shandia. His advisor tries to comfort him, saying that as their descendants it is their responsibility to continue the fight and that they must protect their country’s treasure. Apparently they tried a diplomatic solution in the past, which Shandia rejected, so she feels she deserves no pity. Gan Fall replies that it’s just too hard to admit defeat considering how long they’ve been fighting for it. At some point after the island is attacked and it is revealed that the attacker calls himself “God Enel”.
Presently, a group of three young Skypieans gathered at Conis and Pagaya’s house. One of them claims that her and her father’s rebellion against God makes them bad people, and another says that his father actually works for God. He says he’s never actually met him though, and one of the other kids chimes in that he must be incredible. They all hope to eventually meet his father. Meanwhile, Conis is hurtling toward the city on his wave, hoping to inform the citizens of Enel’s insidious plot to destroy the island.
In the ruins of Shandor, Enel laughs at the claims of the survivors from his game (Gan Fall, Robin, Wyper, Zoro) that they will eliminate him. He chides the group for not knowing what god really is and expresses his outrage at all the “problem lambs” in the world. Gan Fall interrupts him and demands to know exactly what Enel wants to achieve. Enel replies that he is simply going back to where he belongs and explains the place known as Fairy Vearth. It has an unlimited amount and according to legends from the place where it was born, God lives there. Enel goes on to say that they ideally deserve such a place, and admonishes the Skypieans and Shandia for fighting for so long for a place with such a small force in comparison. It states that the Earth, God, and humans have a place where they naturally belong. Gan Fall is horrified as he begins to realize what this means, and Enel confirms that he plans to send the island back down into the blue seas. He begins to explain it as a “law” of nature, and Gan Fall furiously replies that “God” is simply a title given to the leader of this country. Enel retorts that it changed when HE became God, leading Gan Fall to angrily declare that the people of this world do not need God. Enel is able to sense that Gan Fall is worried about his militia and reminds him that 6 years ago his 650 followers lost to his army. As such, they were employed in manual labor. They finished their work this morning and Enel repeats that there are only 6 of them left on the island. Gan Fall immediately realizes what this means and Enel confirms that they rebelled against him when they learned of his intentions. He casually hints at the necessity of their funerals, and Gan Fall has heard enough. He lunges to attack Enel with his spear, but Enel effortlessly dodges and shocks him with 30 million volts of electricity. As he falls, Gan Fall once again flashes back to the exact moment when Enel ascended his throne. After being defeated, he protests the forced labor of his followers, but Enel banishes him from the sanctuary, telling him that he is no longer God. Back in the present, he falls unconscious to the ground as he is burned to a crisp by the force of lightning.
The Straw Hats quickly deduce that Enel is using Goro Goro no Mi as Robin and Nami are horrified at what they are up against. Since there are now 5 survivors as he predicted, Enel says it’s time for them to head to Fairy Vearth. He intends to bring the survivors with him, as all others who have not passed the game are deemed unfit to live in his new land. Suddenly, Robin asks what will happen if they refuse. When Enel is confused by the question, Robin further states that while it is possible to destroy the earth with his power, the object he seeks will also fall into the sea. Enel realizes that he is referring to the Golden Belfry and replies that he can only think of one place that could be, after counting all the others they’ve been to. Robin is visibly shocked at the speed of his deductive reasoning, and Enel expresses his outrage at whoever is trying to trick him. He declares that he doesn’t like manipulative women and electrocutes Robin.
