Read One Piece Manga Chapter 609

Summary:

The chapter opens with a deranged Sanji playing in the mermaid pool at Mermaid Cove. The chef expresses his desire to live there and the mermaid remarks how fun he is. Luffy dips his feet on the side of the pool and comments on how beautiful swimming must be. Camie suggests that Luffy might be wearing a bubble, much to his surprise. Usopp questions if Sanji is acting out of character. Chopper says that he is glad that Sanji is back to normal, and goes on to say that his blood supply is outside of Sanji’s blood type, S RH-, an extremely rare blood type. Luffy tells Camie that there is someone on the island he wants to meet. Camie asks if she’s a mermaid princess, Luffy says no and that he wants to see Jinbe and explains how Jinbe helped him cope with the loss of his brother Ace. Usopp asks if Luffy is talking about the former Shichibukai, to which Luffy says yes, calling him his friend, much to Usopp’s disbelief. Luffy then remembers how Jinbe said he would wait on Fish-Man Island for Luffy to get there. Luffy tells Camie about his promise to see him. Camie remembers reading an article where Luffy and Jinbe were seen together. When Luffy asks where he is, Camie replies that he is not on the island, explaining that after Jinbe abdicated his Shichibukai status, he could no longer stay on Fish-Man Island, so he and the Fish-Man Pirates had to leave. Luffy then asks if that meant he couldn’t see him, and Camie explains that the details of why he left are complicated and that a lot of things changed on Fish-Man Island after the war.
They are interrupted by the Medaka Mermaid quintuplets who come to tell them that a ship is coming. Nika, one of the five, tells Camie that this is a rare royal ship. Realizing that the ship might be coming to arrest Luffy, Camie tells him to hide. Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper all hide behind rocks while Sanji, still in the water, is shielded from view by the mermaid who tries to tell him to stay calm while pressing his head against her chest, which seemed to the cook is enjoying himself immensely. A ship that Camie identified as a royal gondola, basically a large oar with some kind of carriage with oars sticking out, approaches them. A nearby mermaid doesn’t believe that there could actually be kings on board and questions why they would come from Ryugu’s palace to this little corner of the island. Trumpets then sound, announcing the arrival of the Princes of the Kingdom of Ryugu, the Neptune Brothers. One of them greets the mermaids that he has a question for them. The three mermaids scream with joy at the sight of the prince and ask them why they are there, while Luffy, hiding behind a nearby rock, watches silently. He then wonders why there would be princes in Mermaid Cove, as well as Usopp and Chopper. The Neptune princes, Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, and Manboshi, then come out. Fukaboshi explains that they received a report of illegal entry and asked if anyone had been there. The mermaids reply that no one has come. One wonders if the people they are looking for are really important enough for the three princes to look for them personally. Fukaboshi then states that they have not confirmed if the people they are looking for are illegal entrants.
Hammond watches these events unfold from afar. He is with Fish-Man and a sea monster. The fish man calls the princes the three strongest of the Neptunian army. Hammond wonders why they are in the bay, saying it could be problematic. Fukaboshi then thanks the mermaids for their time, saying that he will continue searching elsewhere and that the Border Patrol must have made a mistake. He then apologizes to the mermaids for taking up their time, to which they reply that it was no problem at all. His brothers also apologize. At this point, Sanji loses all self-control. The ability to control himself was too much as he pressed his head against the mermaid’s chest and he erupted in his most massive nosebleed ever. The blood shot out extremely high and took the form of a mermaid in a sexy pose. Chopper cries out in shock as she runs towards him. The mermaid holding him screams, not knowing what just happened. The lower half of Sanji’s face is completely covered in blood, and there’s a lot more of it in the water. Luffy notes that Sanji just lost a dangerous amount of blood. Usopp realizes that Sanji ultimately couldn’t handle the excitement and suppressing it caused him to explode like this. While checking some of the crew’s wanted posters, Fukaboshi realizes that the person he sees now must be Monkey D. Luffy. He then orders his knights ammunition to advance. Hammond realizes that the Straw Hat Pirates are now there too. One crew member suggests capturing them, while the other states that it would be wrong for them to get into a fight with the Neptunian army and that the princes are there as well.
Chopper runs up to Sanji and tells the guards to wait a moment while he apologizes for trespassing and asks the guards to delay their arrest. He then asks for someone to donate blood, saying that if he doesn’t get treatment, Sanji will be dead in about thirty minutes. Chopper said that Sanji’s blood type is S RH-, an extremely rare blood type. He asks if anyone could donate and if the blood of a fish man or a mer man could be transfused into a human body. The guards stop in surprise. Luffy screams and begs for someone to give Sanji blood. As some of the mermaids look on in horror, Chopper asks again if anyone has the required blood type. Usopp finishes the plea by saying that they can’t let Sanji die in such a stupid way. Camie tells Chopper that humans, mermen, and fishmen all share the same blood and it is transfusible. She is about to explain more but is interrupted by laughter. The laugh came from Hammond. He tells the Straw Hat Pirates that they must be crazy, and that there isn’t a single creature on the island that would give blood to humans, and if anyone did, they would receive “judgment in the dark” from someone they hate. people. Luffy then recognizes Hammond from their earlier encounter when Camie suddenly dives underwater. One of the guards tells Fukaboshi that the one speaking is Hammond from the Fish-Man District. Hammond tells Sanji to stay bleeding as he is and helplessly die. He then tells of a rule that was put in place a long time ago that forbids fish people and humans from sharing blood. Usopp and Luffy look at him in disbelief. Hammond goes on to explain that this rule, ironic to the situation, was put in place by the people who feared the fishmen as monsters to prevent bloodlines from mixing.
Fisher Tiger died as a result of this rule. He desperately needed a transfusion during the bloody battle. The humans prevented the transfusion and Fisher Tiger died as a result. Hammond then ordered them to leave the life of one crew member and come with them to the Fish-Man District as their boss Hody Jones wished to see them. Usopp then yelled that he didn’t know the details of this law and that if someone with S RH blood came to help, he would thank him anyway. Ignoring Usopp, Hammond remarks that they’ll just have to take the Straw Hat Pirates by force.
Utase Ami fires a gun at them. Luffy sweeps the flying net out of the way and says that he won’t listen to Hammond and that he told him earlier. He then proceeds to knock out Hammond and his accomplices with one Gomu Gomu no Jet Pistol. Fukaboshi and some mermaids look on in shock as Ryuboshi begins to draw his sword. Hammond and two other pirates were knocked out of it. Someone then yells that Luffy forgot to deal with their sea monster. Luffy dispatches the monster with Haoushoku Haki, intimidating it enough that it won’t fight, but not enough to pass out. Chopper and Usopp were shocked at how the monster realized its own defeat without actually fighting.
Not seeming phased, Fukaboshi said he expected it, causing his brother to respond in disbelief. Camie then reappears after hijacking the royal gondola. She tells them they should go to town because she saw a lot of people at the port. Camie then apologizes to the guards and promises to return the giant oars. Once everyone is on board, they set off, leaving everyone else, including the princes, in Mermaid Cove. Camie apologizes on the gondola and says she would be willing to help if she was the right blood type for Sanji, but she isn’t. Usopp tells her that she has nothing to be sorry about because it all goes back to Sanji having impure thoughts and points to the smirk on the cook’s face as proof. Chopper tells Sanji not to think about anything because every second is precious.
Usopp then comments on the discrimination that Camie and Hatchan faced in the Sabaody Archipelago two years ago and how its roots run very deep. He follows up by saying that he never thought Sanji’s twisted nosebleed would lead to something so terrible. Camie changes the subject and says that she is afraid to get into town because she didn’t know if they would be able to find a suitable donor for Sanji. The reason for this is that no humans have visited Fish-Man Island in the past month except for the Straw Hat Pirates. One of the Straw Hats asks why this is because the island is a famous place. Camie corrects him by saying that it’s a famous place, but she doesn’t know why there weren’t any people there. She said there were rumors around the kingdom that someone might be pulling the strings.
Back at Mermaid Cove, Fukaboshi talks to the mermaids and says that covering the pirates created a huge problem and asks why they did it. The mermaids apologize, saying that the pirates were not bad people and friends of Cami and that they did not want the crew to be arrested for trespassing. One mermaid says she hopes Sanji is okay. Fukaboshi told the mermaids that they were jumping to conclusions. Since the Straw Pirates are already infamous pirates, it didn’t matter if they entered illegally because the military more or less knew who they were dealing with. Ryuboshi adds that they were looking for them for another reason. Caribou’s barrel can be seen behind the surprised mermaid, still sealed, with Caribou apparently listening intently. Fukaboshi states that they just lost their chance to deliver Jinbe’s message to the Straw Hats.
