Summary:
Five years ago, after Big Mom agreed to remove 50 years from Pedro’s life, Pedro was escorted out of Totto Land on Perospero’s ship. Perospero was impressed by Pedro’s determination in his confrontation with Big Mom, but noted that the 27-year-old mink is now effectively 77 years old and won’t have much longer to live. Pedro replied that at least now he could choose his method of death, and Perospero made fun of his crew’s name, the Nox Pirates, given that Nox means night. However, Pedro replied that the night is what gives way to the dawn, remembering that when he was a child, he asked Gol D. Roger and Kozuki Oden to sail with them. Roger told him to stay alert as his time was limited and Pedro’s time would come later. Much later, while Pedro was training, Wanda told him that Roger had died. Pedro took Roger’s words to heart and made it his life’s goal to become the foundation of the Straw Hats’ Dawn of the World.
Back in the present, Luffy cries out in shock and Carrot cries as Pedro sets off a suicide explosion to take out Perospero, and Katakuri is shocked by the blow landed against his older brother. The candy on Chopper, Brook, and Thousand Sunny melts, releasing the straw hats, and Big Mom is blown away by the force of the explosion. Distraught, Carrot tries to run towards the explosion site, but Nami stops her, reminding her that Pedro’s sacrifice saved their lives. Luffy orders everyone to set sail, saying that if they miss their chance to escape, they won’t be able to face Pedro. With Nami’s help, Jinbe prepares to activate Coup de Burst to fly them northwest, but Katakuri says they are too busy as he prepares to attack and the tarte ships surrounding Sunny prepare to fire. Carrot rushes to Katakuri and remembers Pedro telling Shishilian that she would be unfit for the sword when she trained with him during her younger years, much to Shishilian’s anger. Later, Pedro gave Carrot her signature gloves and told her to prepare for when it was her turn.
In the present, Carrot attacks Katakuri, but Sweet Commander easily defeats her with a stomp as she rushes towards Luffy. Luffy then attacks Katakuri, stating that Sunny will sail under his watch, and attacks Katakuri with the Elephant Gun. Despite Katakuri trying to block it with mochi, Luffy manages to catch him and Katakuri predicts what Luffy will do, preventing him from attacking anyone else. Luffy replies that Katakuri won’t be able to prevent what he foresees, but things quickly turn sour as the tarte ships fire cannonballs at Sunny, Big Mom starts biting the ship’s stern, and Perospero emerges from the explosion. badly wounded but still alive. Luffy calls out to his teammates and says that he will leave the rest to them as he grabs Brûlée who is standing in a mirror nearby and pulls himself and Katakuri into the mirror. With the cannonballs converging towards them, the Sanji Retrieval Team activates Coup de Burst and unleashes a massive explosive force into Big Mom as they fly over and away from the Big Mom Pirates’ blockade. Amande reports that Sunny has escaped, and inside the Mirror World, Luffy faces off against Katakuri. The sweet commander comments that Luffy did a good job and Luffy smashes the mirror leading to Sunny as he and Katakuri prepare for a real one-on-one fight.
