Summary:

Luffy, Chopper, Hyogoro, Raizo, Kikunojo, and Kawamatsu overpowered the pirate Beasts, but Daifugo shot the prisoners with special bullets that inflicted on them a debilitating virus known as Mumie, which spreads by touch. When the prisoners move to subdue Luffy’s group, Luffy catches them off guard and becomes infected. He tells them that their conditions will only get worse the longer Kaidou is in power, and if they want to get out of this, they shouldn’t stand in his way. Babanuki prepares to fire an Excite Shell into the crowd, but Luffy binds his elephant’s trunk, causing the grenade inside Babanuki to explode. The prisoners then decide to join Luffy and rebel and defeat Daifuga as Luffy’s alliance conquers Udon.
The Beasts Pirates in the Prisoner Mine attack Luffy, Chopper, Hyogoro, Raizo, Kikunojo, and Kawamatsu, but are unable to hit them with any Excite Bullets. However, Daifugo tells them that it doesn’t matter where they shoot because they are shooting at the prisoners instead. Luffy’s group easily overpowers the Beasts Pirates, and Raizo throws Kid and Killer a ring of keys to hopefully free them from their bonds. The guards proceed to shoot the prisoners with Excite Bullets, causing fever and painful bleeding to spread throughout their bodies. The prisoners end up passing the virus on to others through physical contact, and Daifugo reveals that the virus is called the Mummy.
Luffy’s group finds themselves surrounded by several infected prisoners who proceed after them on Babanuki’s orders so as not to be branded as traitors. The prisoners tell Luffy’s group to leave, stating that they have no chance of defeating Kaidou and pointing out the immense suffering caused by just one of Queen’s viruses. They say they never would have had to go through this if Luffy’s group hadn’t risen up. However, Luffy then surrounds the group of infected prisoners, shocking everyone. As the mummy is handed over, Luffy states that it has no effect at all. He then points out that the prisoners did not live normal lives but were simply slaves working for the kibi dango. He says that even though he is an outsider, he promised Tama that he will make Wano Country a prosperous place where no one will starve anymore. If he didn’t, Wano would remain in its current state. With Oden dead, Luffy’s movement is the only hope Wano has left. He then tells the prisoners to decide to either join his side or Kaidou’s side.
Hyogo is very impressed with Luffy’s leadership, and to deal with the mob at once, Babanuki pulls out an Excite Shell, a piece of ammunition with 200 times the virus of the Excite Bullet, and prepares to fire it with his elephant trunk. Kawamatsu and the Beast Pirates notice what he is doing, but just as the elephant is about to sneeze, Luffy ties its trunk, seeing a dangerous future. The elephant then sneezes and engulfs Babanuki with an Excite Shell blast. As Babanuki falls to the ground, Luffy tells the prisoners that he will leave the rest to them while pointing to Daifuga. Daifugo desperately tries to point out the consequences of going against the warden, but the inmates ignore it as they are now rioting. They proceed to overpower Daifugo, and with eight days left until the final battle, Luffy’s group successfully captures Udon without the foreign enemies finding out.
